The first week in the jungle!

We arrived in Iquitos on Tuesday, March 8, and saw alittle of the town.
Wednesday we took a 14 hour boat ride up the Amazon (getting on the boat at 2:00 P.m, and getting off at 4:00 the next morning). That was one of the most interesting trips I have every made. We ended up in the small village of Grau, right at the point were two rivers merge and form the Amazon river. We set our tents up in a church at 5:00 in the morning and got a little sleep.
Thursday-Sunday we spent putting on kids club for around 100 little kids while Pastor Evelio and Cristofer provided training for the leaders of the church. We also visited, preached during the services each night, taught Sunday School, and got to know the church people.
The following Monday we got a three hour canoe ride up the river to a larger town, and the back to Iquitos.

This first week was a once in a lifetime trip. It was sweet! I swam in the Amazon, caught jungle animals, preached in a jungle church, roughed it, and learned alot!
